With over 35 years of experience in the fashion industry, Claire has woven a tapestry of expertise across retail, wholesale, manufacturing, and importing. In 2016, she followed her dream and founded Chikala Imports, starting with a handful of Kompanero handbags each season. Thanks to Claire’s passion and vision, the business has blossomed, now supplying over 300 stores across Australia and New Zealand with beautifully crafted products.
Claire’s journey is more than a business venture—it’s a reflection of her love for fashion and adventure. She’s a true globetrotter, always on the lookout for unique designs and high-quality materials. From the vibrant markets of Marrakech to the sophisticated trade shows of Milan, Claire’s travels inspire and shape her collections.
Outside of her role as the driving force behind Chikala Imports, Claire is a devoted explorer and creator. Her travels are not just business trips but opportunities to immerse herself in different cultures, meet artisans, and discover new trends. These experiences feed her creativity and passion, bringing a unique touch to every product she designs and imports.
STEPH
KOMPANEROMANAGER | since 2018
Steph is the heart and backbone of Chikala Imports’ head office, the one we all turn to for just about everything. With over five years of experience as a sales rep and a decade in office administration, she brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to her role. Steph’s hard work and meticulous organization skills keep not only the office running smoothly but also ensure her colleagues stay on track.
Beyond her professional life, Steph is a powerhouse at her boxing gym, channeling her energy and determination into every punch. At home, she shares a loving life with her husband and their two adorable little girls, who bring joy and laughter into their lives. Steph’s ability to balance work, fitness, and family is truly inspiring, making her a remarkable presence both in and out of the office.
FATIMA
KOMPANEROMODEL | since 2019
Fatima is the face of Kompanero! Her fun spirited personality and kind heart brings everything we want Kompanero to represent to life.
Fatima describes herself as a “mixed bag of lollies”, being half South African (with Indonesian heritage) and half Austrian. She is now a Mama to 2 little girls she shares with her French partner, making her family that little bit more diverse!
Fatima modelled in South Africa before returning back to Australia where she now raises her two little girls and models for us every season.
